About
Do you have what it takes to be a full-time marketer and run your business full-time?
Here’s the long version…
I know a trick to make my close friends belly laugh, almost on command. Wanna know how?
I tell them I'm shy and soft-spoken.
Nine out of ten times it works like a charm.
When I laugh along it's usually because I'm thinking about what most people don't know.
When I was a child, I was shy to the point of silence. I couldn't walk from a car to my babysitter's front door without having an absolute panic attack.
There's no way I'd ever speak to a stranger.
Are you wondering how I got from that to where I'm at now?
The answer is horses.
My four-legged equine friends helped me break out of my shell of shyness and become the bold and assertive woman I am today. I quickly started taking on leadership roles and grew in confidence and abilities. At fifteen, I wrote my first newspaper article and at sixteen led a (very successful) state-wide philanthropic campaign.
My skills were further honed through competing for and winning Rodeo Queen titles. When my sponsorship dollars ran out, I had to get a day job.
A few years after beginning in a seasonal marketing role, I was leading the department from the role of Marketing & Sales Director.
While working full-time I was also taking a full course load to conclude my degree. After graduating, I held a B.A. in Communications, with a focus in professional, public, and organizational communications.
When the organization I worked for was acquired, I helped manage the transition and took on a new role. I acted as the liaison between the marketing department and the local city governments to foster good relationships. After completing my major projects, I decided to exit stage left. I completed my Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing.
Throughout my career, I'd always helped clients on the side and decided it was time to make it official.
Thus, HRB Communications was born.
